Tour request form
Tours of Cruachan Power Station are suspended and we are not taking bookings for future dates.
Our Visitor Centre will be closed from Monday 16 March.
This is to reduce the risk of people spreading the Coronavirus and the closure will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
We know this will inconvenience people who have booked tours but as a working power station, the safety and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and visitors is our first priority.
About our tour
The Hollow Mountain tour lasts approximately 30 minutes and takes visitors deep into Ben Cruachan.
Along the way expert guides explain how the massive machines that sit within the subterranean power station turn the water of Loch Awe into 440 MW of electricity and share the stories of the people who drilled and built this engineering marvel.
Cruachan Power Station can be quite noisy and humid at times due to the electricity generators/ pumps
There is a possibility of flashing lights in the access tunnel to the power station
No bags are permitted on the tour, but lockers are provided at the Visitor Centre free of charge
Cruachan is a working power station and on rare occasions we may have to delay or cancel our guided tours
Tours of the Hollow Mountain and power station are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users and may be unsuitable for persons with limited mobility. We are not able to offer lift access to the Visitor Gallery inside the cavern. Our Visitor Centre, shop and cafe are step free and fully accessible for wheelchair users
Whilst we will always do our best to accommodate any special requirements, the safety of our visitors and employees is of primary importance. Please contact us for further information
